For those of us who bought the last book and finished reading the story ages ago, the last film is still eagerly anticipated. This is because the films have always had scenes that differ from the books, and so I can't wait to see the producers take on how they finish off the story.
Its really hard to believe that when the first film came out, all those years ago, I'd never heard of Harry Potter or read any of the books, and now on the eve of the last film, I find that I've read the series several times over, and seen the films more times then I can count. Being so interested in Harry Potter, led me to discover that the fans of the films and books, aren't your normal run of the mill fans you find with other series. Due to the awesomeness of these fans, since the series began there have been many new Harry Potter fan creations, ranging from Harry Potter gatherings, the largest I know of being Leaky Con in America, to wizard rock bands, who write songs solely based in Harry Potter.
I think I'm now at that stage where I would actually say I am quite a big Harry Potter nerd, and I do own songs created by wizard rock bands and have watched numerous harry potter related fan videos, but that is in no way a bad or weird thing. There are loads of people out there that have been changed because of these films, they've meet new friends at gatherings, on fan sites, have found a new love for reading, and many more things. I'm sure that when J K Rowling first sat down to write the first book, she'd never have imagined how much of an impact they would have.
I've no doubt that even after the last film comes out, and it is the end of all new things Harry Potter, the fans who have entered into this world and made it more them just pictures on a screen and words on a page, will continue to quote their favourite characters, fantasize about playing quidditch, and sing along to Wock bands.
Really can and can't wait for this last film. There is one silver lining that appeared yesterday though, that came from J K Rowling. She announced that in August a website will be opened called 'Pottermore', which will be an online unique reading experience that will provide people with even more in depth knowledge into the world of Harry Potter. Until then though, enjoy the final film.
