The Unthinkable

This weeks, as the title suggests, the unthinkable happened. Something very dear to me, that I rely on, that I need to function, that i use to contain all my important info and knowledge on, was taken from me this week. I wonder if you can guess what it is I'm talking about?

For most people out there this probably won't make sense, but there are the few like me that will understand when I say, that I'm talking about my laptop.

I know that I probably sound quite strange but this did come as a massive disappointment to me this week. I've had my laptop for just over three years now with no problems whatsoever, and on tuesday night it just died. Completely out of no where, it just died.
After diagnosing the problem I discovered that the laptops hard drive had fried and everything that was on my computer had gone.

To all those out there who rely on their computer as much as I do will understand how I felt. If instead you have something like a phone, or car... Just think about how it'd feel to not be able to use them, for them to be taken from you and you'll begin to feel how us computer nerds feel.

At this point I will say, we all get told that backing up is important, and usually we just think that it'll never happen to me, but trust me you'll regret it if ever this happens to you. Back everything up, as often as you can.

The reason why this was such a terrible thing is not because my laptop broke, as I was able to get it repaired, its because of the amount of data that I lost. Unfortunately I'd not backed up my files in quite a few months, meaning the last several days have consisted of me trying to remember every little thing that got deleted so I could get them back.

Five days on after this 'catastrophe' happened I'm beginning to reach the stage where things are looking normal again. There's still a few things though that struggling to find again, and a few files like my C.V that need to be typed up from scratch. Hopefully I'll have things back to normal soon, feels so glad to have my computer back.
I'm such a nerd :)
