Favourite Video Games: 2011

Having done the other 'favourites' blog last week I thought I'd continue and crack on with another one, today's being my 10 favourite Video Games.
Throughout the years I've played a variety of consoles from the original Gameboy to unbranded t.v plug-in consoles to the Xbox 360. I feel, as I know many others do, that the computer is classed as a games console also, being the origin of many awesome classic games.
I know for some people they only tend to play on the brand of consoles that they feel are the best such as Sony, playing only on the Playstations, however I've never really stuck to one brand but continually bounced around between the different makes. By doing this its allowed me to play games that have been exclusive to certain consoles, experience how different consoles work and allow me to more accurately compare different aspects of the consoles.
If I had to choose though, which series of consoles or company I thought were the best, I'd have to say Nintendo and the Gameboy/DS consoles. My small yellow original Gameboy was the first 'console' I ever owned and I still have it to this day, as well as two original mario games that I got with it.
Even with all the hi-tech consoles that are out and with the new generation to be released very soon, I've found myself being drawn back to the old school desktop computer. Less on the consoles though and onto the games.
My favourite games range across a variety of consoles, and vary quite widely in age. Thinking about all of these games combined, I can easily say that I have racked up a huge amount of time playing them, however I would definitely not say that that was a waste.
These again aren't in order of favourite but are just my top ten games that I have most enjoyed playing and have stood out to me over the years.
1) Super Mario Land 2 - Gameboy
2) Pokemon Blue - Gameboy Colour
3) Harry Potter Quidditch - Gameboy Advance
4) Mario Kart - Nintendo DS
5) Star Wars Battlefront - PS2/Computer
6) Medal of Honor: Rising Sun - PS2
7) Ratchet and Clank - PS2
8) Assassins Creed Brotherhood - Xbox 360
9) Call of Duty: Black Ops - Xbox 360
10) Minecraft - Computer
After having narrowed down the list and picked my top 10, I found that apart from Mario Kart, this list also shows the order in which I first discovered and played the games. Super Mario Land 2 being the oldest, over atleast a decade old, and Minecraft being the newest having discovered it about 2ish months ago.
Like many other things, every couple of years or so I'll be cleaning out my room or rummaging through some boxes and I'll come across one of these games and they'll make an awesome return into my life. With Pokemon being the most recent in doing this last summer.
Hopefully this blog hasn't been too nerdy. I just felt that as these games, have been a big influence on me and are things I find really entertaining, similar to my favourite books, films and music, they were worthy of a blog of their own to be shared too.

Quick update: V for Vendetta and Surviving two decades

Just blog is going to be slightly shorter today as I just wanted to write quickly about a few things that happened today and are happening tomorrow.

Firstly, I bought the film V for Vendetta today in town, a film for some reason I've heard of before but never actually watched it or found out anything about it. I thought as I'd planned to do a load of washing and ironing this evening, it would be a good time to finally put it on and I'm so glad I did.

V for Vendetta, in my opinion is an amazing film, and very unique in many ways compared to other films now a days which is really refreshing. It also in a way felt quite comparable to some of the work we've done on my history course, which to me added an interesting element to the film.
I won't go into it too much, however if your ever looking for a good action/intelligent thriller film, or have some spare time I highly recommend this film.

Secondly, I've now got just under an hour left of 'being in my teens' as my mum put it, as I turn twenty tomorrow. This is going to be my first birthday, ever I think, where I won't be with my family at home, however I'm sure I'll still be chatting to many of them throughout the day tomorrow.

Normally I'm not too over enthusiastic when it comes to my birthday, I do like celebrating it but otherwise I don't really like to make much of a fuss. What's weird this year tho is that I've not really seemed to tell anyone. Now I know that people will see on facebook as you can't hide when your birthday is, but other then that not many people would really know, and strangely I don't really mind that. Perhaps its just because everyone's just gotten back to university the other day and things are still quite slow paced. Whatever the reason though I am going to enjoy being slightly older, and hopefully wiser, and hopefully it'll be a good day.

Happy Birthday also to everyone else whose birthday it is tomorrow, hope you have an awesome day.
