This week out in Cologne, Germany was Europe's biggest gaming trade show, Gamescom. Wanting to continue with my gaming journalism writing for culturefly.co.uk I decided to take some time off of job hunting and cover this event.
Similar to the E3 event that took place in LA back in June I think it was, I noted down when the company conferences were, such as Microsoft and Sony, so I could watch them live online and then write up articles about the news as and when it was coming out.
Unfortunately life still gets in the way, and I didn't have as much free time as I did surrounding E3, but I was still able to watch some of it live and get some articles written up and online in quite a short space of time, rivalling the time it took some of the more well known news sources to got their articles up, which is always nice.
It seems very strange at the moment being able to do this writing on this scale, to take a day or two off when I need to and devote my attention to one thing. I know that as soon as I'm back working, the writing will unfortunately have to take a back seat. Unless I am extremely luck enough to find somewhere where that would be my job.
I guess the point I'm trying very long to get to in a very long winded manner is that it has been nice to have those few months at uni and these months over the summer to dedicate my time to something new, something that I enjoy and would like to take on further, without too much worry as to how things would keep ticking over. I'm very fortunate to have had that time.
Saying all of this, I am slowly reaching that point where it would be nice to have something full time again, and preferably get paid also. Can't hold off being an adult much longer :)
