If you happened to see a few of my recent blogs then you'll know that this week
has been my first week off after finishing University. There hasn't been
many eventful things happen this week, which I kind of expected,
however that doesn't mean that I haven't been keeping myself occupied.
I will admit that a lot of my time this week, as with many other of my weeks has been filled up due to being on YouTube, as talked about in my last blog, however I've also been getting underway in achieving some of my summer goals. The main thing that I've been doing this week is running. In the past when I say I'm going to start running I will do a day or two, leave a week gap, going running once or twice more and then somehow forget about it. This week has been the start of my new running regime however. From now on I'm going to go running either outside or using the treadmill every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and I'm going to stick with it. As my main goal isn't really about losing weight, it more just getting fit, I've not exactly thought about diets or anything like that just what exercise I'm doing. This time round I definitely feel more dedicated to keep this running going, so I shouldn't have a problem with keeping to this new schedule, we'll see how things go though.
The next thing that I've been doing this week is reading. Having got all this tie off I thought that it would be a great time to catch up as I haven't read much apart from history books over the last month or so. Although I've now got a pile of books on my book shelf still needing to be read, I also went out this week and bought a few more. I don't know why I did, I just can't seem to help myself now when I see something I want to read I just have to get it. The latest example of this being The Great Gatsby. Now strangely I bought this book on Monday after hearing brilliant things about it and it being on my list of books to buy, and then on Tuesday I saw the trailer for the film version that is coming out soon. Due to this I immediately had to push all my other books back and begin reading this book instead. It really is becoming a problem now getting more new books, and pushing other books to the back of the pile.
The last thing that I have been up to this week is job hunting, however its not my usual, I need a job, get me whatevers going type job hunting. Due to having all my university money put away and safe, the only money I need really is for things over the summer. Because of this I thought that whilst searching through all the job sites I would try to find something that I could see myself doing later in life, or something that would at least give me a taster, so I could determine if I did want to pursue that career. At the moment the only area I can think of looking into is something to do with books, whether it be office work related to this area or more then likely selling them. I know I probably sound a bit selfish in saying that I'm being choosey with jobs, and I don't mean to be, I'm just really unsure what career path I want to head towards and thought this would give me a push in the right direction towards choosing a good job. So far a few jobs have started to appear on the local websites for seasonal work, however I think that as its still May I might need to wait a week or so before more vacancies begin to appear.
I better head off now and finishing the cleaning I came upstairs to do, as we have people coming to view our house quite soon, and don't want my room to look to much of a mess. Anyone else setting themselves goals for over the summer? Whats everyone planning for when the summer holidays finally come around??

YouTube...
I will be writing an update blog later on today hopefully, however I quickly wanted to write about something that I've not really mentioned much in these blogs before and that is YouTube. I immediately know that people will be thinking, YouTube, isn't that for just watching random videos about cats, or people falling over and wasting time on the net. To a degree that's partly what people use YouTube for yes, however that's not the area of YouTube that I want to talk about. If you didn't happen to know, YouTube as well as having the people who post all the random, funny, silly videos, also has a huge number of dedicated YouTubers who post videos regularly, showing content ranging from game plays, to music videos, from skits to news videos. Due to being really talented in there specific areas these YouTubers often gain thousands of subscribers, and over the years these followers often become communities of sorts, interacting with the YouTuber they follow and with other followers. It seems quite strange trying to put what this area of YouTube is into words, it's more of a thing that you need to experience to understand.
For over a year and a half now I have been following a number of Youtubers, a few being the Vlogbrothers, Phillip Defranco, CaptainSparklez, Corey Videl and ApprenticeEH, and MissXRojas. There are loads of reasons why I do this and why I like following these people and watching their videos. The reason I wanted to bring this subject up now though is because I've increasingly been finding more and more of these awesome people and have been interacting more then I have in the past and I just feel, 'privileged' and really lucky to have discovered this side of YouTube and these people. When you continually read in the news now a days about all the rubbish that's going on, and all the idiotic people causing problems, it's nice to know that there are these normal everyday people out there who do things because that's what they love to do, people who go out of their way to help others, and who care about the people they affect.
I'd easily say that YouTube has become part of my life now, it might be weird to hear that but it's true. I now get the majority of my news through watching people such as Sourcefed and PhilyD who post videos on the latest news, through watching the Vlogbrothers I've come to feel as though I've joined the ranks of the nerdfighters, an international community, involving millions of people around the world, and I'm offered the opportunity to see into the daily lives of fantastic people through watching the daily vlogs of ApprenticeEh and CTfxC.
I'm guessing I definitely now sound a bit odd, trust me though, its something everyone should see and understand, the internet if not thousands, even millions of peoples lives are all better off for having YouTube around and letting these people have the opportunity to do what they do.
Before I end this blog off, I just thought I'd leave a quick example of the good I've seen through these videos, just within the last few days alone: A guy named Adam Montoya, or as he's known on YouTube SeaNanner, is currently in the final round of a dance competition run through another YouTube channel. If Adam wins he will receive $25,000 prize money. Although he acknowledges that this is a lot of money and it could significantly help him out financially, he said in a recent video that as he'd had so much help from followers, YouTube, other people in his life....to get him to where he is today, he would want to give that money to charity, to provide help for others and give other people the opportunity to have better lives.
You don't hear about people like that too often these days.
