Packing things up... Again

Really oddly, I've kind of been putting this weeks blog off, for the sole reason that very little has actually this week. Apart from the very boring essays being finished and handed in and procrastinating again, which to be honest I think I've already exhausted both of those topics within these blogs already.

The only real thing that has happened this week came in the form of an email the other day from my landlord. Although my housemates and I still have about two months left on our lease, this time of year is when alot of students finish university for the year and head off home or on holiday etc... Because of this our landlord has arranged to come and do an inspection of our house to make sure there aren;t holes in the wall, doors off the hinges, stains in the carpet, that kind of stuff, so that the house is in a good condition for the next lot of students in a couple of months time.

We're all pretty confident that the house is in perfectly fine condition, nothings been broken, everything still works. The only problem with this inspection is that our landlord asks that all things like posters be taken down off of the wall, so they can see the walls, everything be packed up neatly, and as empty as it can so they can see everything in the house in a 'brand new' state. the reason that this is a problem is because as I just mentioned a minute ago we still have a few months left on our lease, and although my housemates have moved the majority of their stuff out today because they have finished uni, i still have at least a month left to go, and so at least a month left still living here.

I do get why the inspection has to be done, however i do feel that it is slightly unfair to ask us to not just put things away neatly but take down pictures/posters, and make the house as showroom like as possible just for their convenience whilst doing the inspection. As i have spent the last few days doing a proper spring clean in my room of anything that can be thrown away, and taken down anything covering any wall space, I now don't see much reason to put them back up again afterwards for the sack of a month when i will just take them down again.

I am at this point starting to notice that this blog is becoming a bit of a rant once again, but it is a bit unfair is it not, we're not exactly loaded with money but we have paid to rent this house, and are now being told that we have to take our things down, pack stuff up, and just wait for this inspection to be over with. Although I really would like to just ignore them and keep things how I've come to have them in my home, landlords are notoriously sly when it comes to finding excuses to charge people for things that they haven't done and i don't really want to give them anymore reasons then possible for that to happen. If your a student or have ever rented a flat/house I'm sure you'll know what i mean. Its just one of things I guess.
