Only one more week until the 50th anniversary episode of Doctor Who! As this is going to be a special one off episode and because its the only Doctor Who we're going to have for a while, I made the active choice to try and not see or read anything about this episode and just watch it with a clean view next week.
With all special episodes such as this, there always tends to be a lot of rumours running around about who will be appearing and what their role will be, as well as there often being some leaked information about the plot or said guest roles. Although I usually don't actively seek out this information about new TV programmes or movies or such, if I see it I do like to have a read and hear about what's going on. When it comes to this episode however, as I've said its a particularly special one and the only episode for a while, I didn't want to potentials spoil anything for myself or uncover to much.
All of this work has been undone somewhat over the last couple of days however, due to a short prequel that I saw online and a small clip shown on last nights Children in Need. Having known almost nothing about the actual plot of the episode, these two clips have left me very confused about what is going to happen, and although what I saw looked great, it probably would have been better to have averted my eyes when they were playing. I've mainly just been left asking myself who certain characters were and why I was being shown those events.
Luckily the show is only a week away and so don't have to wait too long to find out the answers, would have been horrible if I had been watching these several months ago and had to wait ages for it to come out.
I've already started to make plans for next weeks airing, where I'll probably be sat watching the episode legally online, several minutes after it is aired as to not need a TV licence, with some dinner that I've treated myself too, with no worries about coursework or such, able to happily sit back and enjoy the episode.
