New Years Resolutions, and a last message from 2011

Again, before I begin this blog I'd like to apologise for the lack of blogs over the holidays. I thought being home would mean I'd have more free time in which to blog, however to my surprise its been the opposite, and instead its been a very chaotic, busy couple of weeks.
I will attempt to make up for it though as things get back to normal.

On to the subject of today's blog, 2012, or more specifically 'New Years' and the end of 2011. I don't think I've ever really been a person who goes along with the traditional ways of thinking, and that includes the concept of New Years.

The concept of New Years, is meant to be a specific time in which people are meant to either begin things, end things, move forward, and generally start a new and should do this through the means of new years resolutions. Although I believe new years resolutions are a good idea, its with them that I have a problem.
I know that last statement might sound a bit controversial so I'll explain how I mean.

The two problems I have with New years resolutions are basically, the notion of importance that people put on them and how easy they are to break, and also their timing.

A subsequent tradition to New Years is that the resolutions you make usually only last til late January/Mid-February, either because people give in to what they're trying to stop or because they just don't want to keep with the resolution anymore, for whatever reason.
Resolutions made during New Years tend to be quite hyped up, and so as you move away from New Years it begins to hold less importance, meaning the majority of people give up on them. This nicely brings me onto the second reason.

Why do people leave these resolutions till the New Year? I've seen people decide they wanted to do something whether it be quit a bad habit, go somewhere new, or to change jobs, and they just do it, no waiting around to begin or letting things get in the way, and you know what I envy these people.

I truly believe that if you want to do something or you set yourself a goal that is important to you, you can achieve anything, there are no limits.

I'm not quite sure whether its because I've been watching too much Doctor Who lately or if I'm just getting quite personal again but I do think that people really are amazing.

2011 for me has been a year of ups and downs, and I've had the unfortunate experience of dealing with things I'd rather never have had to experience.
Throughout it all through I've ended the year with a number of happy memories and had the opportunity to witness acts of awesomeness that although few in comparison make everything worth while.

Thankyou to everyone that has read any of my blogs this year, I do hope that they were okay, and I didn't bore you too much. I'm also extremely thankful that I have this small space in which I can share my thoughts so openly, it's helped me more then I can say.
Until next year, I hope everybody wherever you are, has a great rest of the holidays, and DFTBA (don't forget to be awesome).
