Coincidence or just sheer luck

Following on from my last post, this week was my first full week working as an intern for a games company in London. Having gotten past the initial new guy period and getting stuck in more this week, it became strangely obvious how specifically tailored job this internship is to me.

You'd probably be able to tell from these blogs that I am very into my video games, not just playing them but learning about how they are made, reading all the news surrounding the industry.... So working for a games company is brilliant. Furthermore a games company that partners with museums to make educational historical games, when I went to do a degree in History at university, just adds to the tailor made job-ness of the job.

This week I have spent quite a few hours working on the company's social media accounts, creating content, gaining followers, advertising the company, and becoming a community manager/social media manager was the job I was most applying for and hoping to get into.

To top everything off, I have always been a computer guy, fixing gadgets and computers for my family, creating things, solving tech related problems, etc... And this week one of my main tasks has been to create the press/media section for the company's website. As they currently don't have a press section on the site, I have had to go through the website builder, and using the tools and all of their assets create this new section from scratch, which has been great. Taking me back to my days doing ICT when you'd be given a new project and would run with it.

There just seem to be loads of little things popping up that are oddly coincidental. Not at all complaining , just slightly freaked out a bit.

Looking forward to next week, as we are visiting one of the historical attractions that we're partnered with, to launch a game, talk with journalists and take photos of the event. It should be a really cool, and fun day.
