On the night of the meal, the people that arrived included my grandparents (my mum's parents), and my mum's two younger brothers. Due to my mum being the eldest of the siblings she had mainly positive comments made towards her, however between my two uncle's there were often very clear negative comments made, with my mum occasionally stepping in between them. Now I'm not saying this in a bad way, but these three (my mum, and two uncles) aren't necessarily the youngest of people, and they all have children of their own, so you can imagine why it felt very weird to hear them making digs at each other, when all of the young people were sat chatting and laughing away.
I did later find out that there was a few recent falling outs between my two uncles, which only helped increase the rivalry, but overall the few comments made didn't seem to put downer on the evening.
In my previous blog I did mention the fact that I had to make a speech, and I did, but I was bought a few drinks throughout the night and my only real preparation for it was looking up actress jokes on the internet, so I guess you can imagine how it all played out. I did say that we were very proud of her, and congradulations on graduating, however I for some reason threw in some of those actress jokes, as well as some chemistry jokes that people didn't really seem to get. I never did ask how people thought it went, but I'm sure they'd just say to keep the jokes to a minimum next time.
All in all, the evening went very well, my sister loved her cake, people seemed to enjoy themselves and the food we had there was awesome, leaving me for some reason craving pub style burgers for the last couple of days. So not as chaotic a weekend as I thought it would be, however there's always next week when my younger brother and sister are back to school, my mum will be back at work, and I'll have my last week at work before moving to university the following week, looking forward to it.
