I'd always intended, when the summer came back around, to go back to working, and work through until uni started in September. With the closure of Millets in Scarborough however, I'll have to start the job hunt from scratch, which at the moment sounds a lot easier then it actually is.
Everyone knows that due to the economy and such jobs are a lot harder to come by, as there are lots more people applying for them. Added to this, being a student who goes to uni outside of scarborough, means also that people arnt as likely to hire you, because they know you'll be leaving at the end of August.
Having thought through these circumstances, I've found that I'm not left with a great amount of choice. Hopefully, as its still a little while before 'summertime' properly begins, more jobs will appear before then.
Being the organised, slightly OCD person that I am, I went through my finances a number of times and found that I have enough money to cover all my university related things, and by working over the summer I'd be earning essentially 'additional money'. Due to discovering this, the pressure to find a new job has been lifted somewhat, and also means I have some flexibility in how many hours and days I want to work.
Although, so far this blog has perhaps seemed a bit boring, the point I wanted to make and the main reason I wanted to write this blog was to just show that, as titled, the Summer isn't what it used to be.
All though primary and secondary school, you'd finish mid july time and then have 6 or 7 weeks of pure freedom, where you could sleep in late, see your friends, and most importantly not have to deal with work.
Now a days however that isn't the case, all part of growing up I guess.
I just never really thought that I'd be wanting Summer to pass by quickly so my second year can begin. This reminds me, I need to buy the book of Peter Pan soon. Atleast I won't have to worry about work in the educational sense, and I'll get more time back at home.
Having said all of this I do still have a piece of coursework and two exams standing in the way before then. Wish me luck on my revision this week and finishing off my work. Hopefully it won't take much to get me back into the university mood.
