For some reason, kind of unbeknown to me, London is a very special and important place to me, and its about the only place in England that I don't want to stand out, to look like I'm a tourist to this place. I'm not sure why I have this connection to this place though, apart from my parents working and living in london for a large portion of their lives, there's not much else that links me to here.
I've always seen London as this awesome city, with lots of things to do, see, and be apart of. I guess I'd say for me its the english equivalent of what draws americans to New York. Ever since we moved from Milton Keynes to Scarborough, I've hung more tightly on to the fact that I'm from the south. Due to the large distance living away from where I grew up, this could be part of why I love coming down to London so much, as it in a way symbolises my origins and that of my families.
I'm not quite sure why I thought I'd add that little segment in their, but oh well. Back to my trip today, I got up really early for the third time this week, which for me is very foreign, and grabbed the train down to London. Since arriving I grabbed the tube to Trafalgar Square, and then just walked. I made a point of not making plans for today but just doing what I wanted and so decided to have a couple hours of walking round, taking in some of the sights, and just the atmosphere of the city.
For this afternoon I think I might catch the tube over to the London science museum, and spend a few hours looking round the exhibits. As for what I'm going to do now though, I feel as its only up the road, I'll have a look around some of the shops on Regents Street. I probably should have come a bit more prepared with what I was going to do today, however I do like the fact that I'm not tied down to anything and can just do what I feel like doing.
Anyways, the lunch time rush seems to be calming down, so now seems like a good time for me to get back on the move again. In case anything eventful happens on the rest of my little trip, I'll upload this blog now, and post a separate updates blog later. You never know might get to have lunch with the prime minister, or be invited to watch an early screening of a new film...
