I won't go into too much about the phone, however I did want to talk about the new upgrade that came out just the other day, BlackBerry 6.0.
With all the new HTC windows phones and the Iphone 4 coming out recently, blackberry decided to create this upgrade in order to match features being used by these companies, which in turn helped bring past models back up to scratch with the latest phones. Although mine isn't that out of date there were a number of features that my brother and mum have on their HTC phones that were very useful but weren't available on my blackberry. Due to installing this new upgrade, my phone now has the RSS/social network friend stream, I can open several different tabs on my internet browser, I have a new more efficient screen layout and loads more features.
From my experience Blackberry is the only phone company to upgrade older models to this degree, because of the chance that new customers wouldn't see as much of a difference between new and older models. However to me, this shows that they want new customers to have the best of other phones and shows that they intend to look after their existing customers. For existing customer, it shows that Blackberry don't want them to lose out on new features, which I'm definatly all for. Having signed a two year contract myself for my phone, I feel its important for the companies to look after their customers because once that contracts signed the customer is tied up and can't change. These upgrades are a great reassurance because inevitably anyone on a contract will have an older phone that has features that become out of date, and so by receiving them it makes the customer feel looked after and appreciates the company more.
I already thought that my phone was an awesome phone and better then I could have hoped, but by now knowing that the company is actually interested in its customers and is active towards that end, makes me feel very loyal towards them. I think having this phone will definatly start me off on a succession of blackberry phones in the years to come. Furthermore I've also recently been looking into Blackberry's new Playbook tablet, as an idea for university. For the moment though, I think it will just stay an idea.
