For the first of my 'favourite' blogs, I thought as its almost christmas, I'd compile a list of my top five favourite christmas films.
There were a few films that immediately jumped into my head when I was thinking about this list, however to fully figure which should make the top five, I decided to 'research' loads of films by watching them. Although I am still at university, I didn't have the busiest week last week, so I spent a few nights over the week, and over the weekend with a tub of Haagen Dazs and a lot of jaffa cakes, going through a number of films.
When I was thinking about this list I came to the conclusion that these films don't have to just be christmas films, although most of them are, they could also be ones that make you feel christmasy, or are linked to this time of year.
So, after a lot of debating with myself, I've managed to come up with my five, however the last few were very close with ones that just missed the list.
Number one: The Nightmare Before Christmas,
Number two: Jack Frost,
Number three: Home Alone 1
Number four: Love Actually,
Number five: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
And because it was really hard to choose, I want to also mention the few that were just missed off:
The Muppet's Christmas Carol,
Home Alone 2,
Jingle all the way,
Miracle on 34th Street,
and a new one I've only just discovered The Polar express.
So its actually kind of a top ten then a top five. Take it as you will, the first five are my definite favourites.
Hopefully I don't need to say much about why they are up there on my list. I think they are all awesome films, as people who have seen them will surely agree, especially the first three. These three I have been watching them for many, many years now, and are also childhood favourites of mine.
Anyways, that's my top five favourite christmas films, which I'm sure I'll have watched again by the end of the holidays. If you haven't seen any of them, I do recommend taking a few hours out to watch them, especially during this time of the year.
I'm almost finished with another one of my lists, even thought they are actually quite hard to compile, so hopefully the next 'favourites' blog will be up within a few days.
