First few days of University life

I've now been in Sheffield for 5 days, and 4 nights, living in my new accommodation, with my first day at university coming up on tuesday.

Up until now I've been keeping myself quite busy, buying in food, and going out getting things that I either forgot to bring or weren't in the flat when I moved in. In my last blog I said I was 99% sure I'd gotten everything, and it so happens that I did forget something, and so that's why the 1% was left. I knew I'd forgotten something.

On arriving at my accommodation I thought that it did look a bit basic but it would be fine for living in, however after going to a few of my friends flats, I know think my flat definitely isn't as good compared to theirs, but should still be alright to live in.

This year I think I've been very lucky when it comes to my flatmates. Three out of four of my flatmates arrived over the last couple of days, and my last flatmate arrived today, and they all seem really nice and easy to get on with. I do think we all, at times, still seem a bit unsure about things, like where the best places to get things are, down to what time everyone wakes up in the morning so whether to stay quite quiet. I'm sure after a few weeks though we'll get used to everything.

The one thing that I hopefully will get used to soon is not being so close to home. At the moment it feels like a holiday period, like I'm on a school trip staying over. Its slowly sinking in now that this is going to be where I'm living full time, however due to this its making me miss home and all the familiar things back in Scarborough. I haven't as of yet planned a date when I'm first going back home, but being only a few hours away gives me the choice to turn up at the station and grab the first one leaving, without it being too expensive.

I think so far everything has gone quite well, I'm just now really looking forward to getting into class, starting projects and properly getting stuck in. Time seems to have slowed down these last couple of days, and because of this I'm just mostly looking forward to getting back to some kind of normality.
