University magazine and America update.

I know I keep saying each week that the following week will be chaotic and busy because I'll have loads of uni work to do, however that point still oddly hasn't arrived. This week I again got more reading to do and some prep work for seminars but not as much as I seemed to have this time last year, perhaps it'll happen next week.

Something I did again this week that I did last week was go to a meeting for the university magazine. I spoke very briefly about this last week, so I thought I'd say a bit more today. Having gotten quite interested in writing over the summer, and having submitted a few reviews into a site online, I thought my next best step would be to get involved in the uni magazine.
With regards to this, this week I went to their second meeting where they talked more about the content in their next issue, and asked other people if they had any ideas for what they wanted to write about. After hearing some really good ideas for some of the sections I was interested in, I spoke with one of the sub-editor type people and got an idea for my own article I can write about.

I never really thought of myself as someone who could write or was that interested in writing, however over the last few months, its become quite an attractive prospect to do and get involved in. Hopefully I'll be able to get started on writing this article next week, and find out a little bit more about things like putting in photos, and word limits etc....

The biggest thing that's happened to me this week actually happened to me today. Although I haven't said anything, since April, May time I've been planning to go abroad to study in America for my third year. Having researched universities, grants, tuition fees and all of the important things over the summer, I finally managed to get in touch with the humanities coordinator today to ask them whether it was possible.
To my surprise within about 20 seconds of dialling the number, my coordinator said that it wouldn't be possible, and there is no way that I'd now be able to do a year abroad and have it count towards my degree.

If I think about it, since I came up with this idea, I did kind of put all my hopes on it, and didn't plan for anything else. Having those plans taken away so quickly has really annoyed me and shocked me in a way, but I guess I'll now have to start my new plans for next year.

It just feels soo weird, I'd had all of these plans in mind, things I wanted to do, and now when I think of next year its just blank. Anyone else felt this way before?

Luckily I called up this early in the year and I have plenty of time to sort new things out. I would have loved to study out in america though.
