After re-doing the favourite music list the other week, and due to watching quite a few christmas related films lately, I thought the next list I would re-do would be my list of favourite christmas films. The hasn't really been many changes from last year, apart from one major from that I cannot believe I forgot about last year and that is number three on the list. Apart from that addition the only real changes are in their ordering. Unlike the music list, this list will be ordered best to the least best.
1) The Nightmare Before Christmas
2) Jack Frost
3) The Grinch
4) Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
5) Home Alone 1
6) The Santa Claus
7) Love Actually
8) The Polar Express
9) Miracle on 34th Street
10) The Muppet's Christmas Carol
I mentioned this last year, but for films like Harry Potter that aren't technically christmas films, they still feel very christmasy, and I'll associate them with this time of the year, either because they have brilliant christmas scenes in them, or because they're played each year around this time.
One thing I noticed when compiling this list again is that there hasn't really been any new christmas films over the last couple of years. In fact all of the amazing christmas related films that I can remember either came out when I was a child or in the early 2000's. I wonder if kids today see all of these classic christmas films as old films, and would rather have there own new films to grow up along side. Perhaps there are enough christmas films out now that they shouldn't make anymore, just stick with the ones we have.
After a long day of packing up my room and moving boxes around the house, and doing trips to the tip, I think its about time to grab a drink and put another film on. Saying that however I've just remembered that although I did manage to get all of my christmas shopping I still haven't actually wrapped anything yet, so maybe a quick film and then on to wrapping up the gifts.
As I don't think I'll be blogging tomorrow, or for the next few days, Merry Christmas to anyone that reads this.
