Moving House, leaving Scarborough, and Books

I noticed the other day that I haven't done a proper, let's talk about things blog in a while, and as I'm back travelling on the train again, this would be the perfect time to write one.

The only major topic I can think to talk about today is on moving house. Unfortunately due to exams I won't be able to be there on the day my family packs up the belongings from the house into the truck, and drives down south. This means that today was my last day of being in our house in Scarborough. For weeks now we've been packing up boxes, throwing away junk, shifting furniture and weirdly that revelation that I won't ever go back to live in that house, has only just hit me.

I never really realised till the other day just how much stuff people accumulate over the years and at the same time when all the junk is taken away, how little meaningful things I actually have. What I mean by this is that out of all of the boxes of stuff I've packed up, perhaps only two, or maybe three of them have things in that are irreplaceable, that are properly sentimental. Saying this I also have several boxes full of books, dvds and games, which although are replaceable, I'd sorely miss if anything happened, especially my books.

Another thing that was highlighted to me today, that I also hadn't really taken into account was with regards to seeing friends. Being resourceful 20/21 year olds however, this stops this from being a major problem as we are always able to get on a train or other form of transport to meet up and see each other. It does feel odd though that during holidays, all my friends tend to return back to their homes, which are around Scarborough, whereas for me now, I'll be heading south to Milton Keynes or Letchworth. Unfortunately this means I'll have to plan trips ahead of time now to see people, instead of being able to be text an hour beforehand by a friend asking if I want to go grab a drink with them. I guess it had to happen eventually.
It still feels as though its taken me by surprise however, the whole moving situation, which is strange because I'm usually quite a forward thinking person, looking into the ramifications of things and planning accordingly ahead of time.

That's probably enough talk about moving today, I know over the last few months that its been the focus of quite a few of my blogs. I do still intend to do one or two other favourite blogs, in the coming weeks however in order for me to compile favourite lists for things such as my books and films, I wanted to wait until I got back to my house where they all are, so I could see them all in front of me and wouldn't miss any out.
I do also possibly want to look into writing more book reviews and possibly start another page or blog dedicated to this. I still need to think it over, perhaps I'll just keep everything on this one page, we'll see.
