This blog might sound very small-ish but its another thing that every year I notice and its recently happened again. What I'm talking about is how British people act during those first few warm sunny days that signal summer time is arriving.
These first few days of summertime for me happened last weekend until early this week. Although there have been a few summery warm days over the last couple of months, it's now July, its lighter longer into the night now, people have started going on holiday, and so these nice days feel more like actual summer time.
What I've noticed about how British people see these days is that we tend to be quite fearful that they won't last and that they'll just disappear and so we jump at the opportunity to do loads of summertime things quickly like having a BBQ, laying outside reading a book, etc... By getting in there quickly and doing all of these things during these few days of nice weather, kind of gives us this piece of mind that we didn't miss out, and that we took the opportunity whilst we could.
I've never known another group of people who are so thankful for good weather and are at the same time so fearful that it'll get taken away from them.
Although I do like the typical scene of a warm day with a breeze, spending time with family having a BBQ, I rather more enjoy the cold and snow over the boiling summer days. The consequence of this being that I don't really suffer from this summer fear. Has anyone else noticed this, and is it good that we get out there straight away enjoying the weather?
