Hugh Laurie and the Copper Bottom Band live

After a quick mad dash back to the train station, I'm now currently heading back home, after an amazing evening watching Hugh Laurie and the Copper Bottom band play live at the Hammersmith Apollo.

It may be a bit unusual these day due to the amount of artists touring, and fans who have money and access to go see their favourite singers, but tonight was my first time ever seeing an artist sing live. I have previously seen comedies perform in theatres, but never got round to seeing someone sing live on stage. I'm not really sure why it's taken so long.
Because of this I never really accepted that whole thing of 'they're always better live' I just put it down to the hype and actually being there as they sing, but after tonight I fully understand now why people always say that.

Going with this theme of 'not the usual', now a days I know that a lot of younger people who go to see live concerts generally go to big pop type concerts, or to see their favourite chart topping bands and singers. Hugh laurie is quite different when compared to these experiences however. Firstly its primarily a blues concert, a type of music I don't really here that many younger/young adults playing much. Secondly it wasn't really a concert, it was more like a gig in a theatre, which made the evening loads better as the crowd was smaller, it was more crowd interactive, kind of more personal if that's the right word and we had closer seats due to the place being smaller then we thought.

Recently I've been wanting to a host full of shows/gigs/concerts e.g. George Watsky, Train, Lindsey Stirling, Imagine Dragons...... As I now have more money then I used to and so can afford the tickets, plus being closer to London, any of the American artists I like that come over, tend to stop off there whilst going around europe.

Tonight's performance was definitely something that could not be missed being a massive fan of Hugh Laurie, both as an actor and musician. As with all things awesome it's quite hard to put into words how good to was, but being my first live performance, this one's going to be hard to beat.
