Going camping

I can't remember if I mentioned this in last weeks blog or not, but as we haven't been on holiday in a bit and because we don't have loads of money to spend out on booking hotels and such, my mum and sister last week decided that we as a family would go camping for a long weekend in a couple of weeks time.

Having spent about two and a half/three years working in Millets when we lived back up in Scarborough, everyone saw to turn to me for advice on what we needed to take and what they should buy for the trip.

Although we did used to go camping quite often, many, many years ago, my younger sister was very young around this time and so has very little knowledge of these trips. It was because of this that we decided to go back to our holiday roots and decided to go on this camping holiday. Furthermore, my older sisters boyfriend is also coming with us and he too has never been camping, so this will also give him the opportunity to experience camping.

Due to having worked in a camping equipment shop for several years and having done several of the Duke of Edinburgh awards whilst at secondary school and sixth form, I'm really looking forward to doing all of the camping involved activities again, and being able to put in action some of the skills and tricks that I learnt.

Hopefully this upcoming family holiday will live up to those old school vacations as well as the hardcore D of E expeditions that I've done throughout the years. Whatever its like, something tells me out of all of us I'll be the one most likely to survive if our tent gets stolen or shredded by a bear or some such thing.
