Birthdays and remembering lost thoughts

It's that time of year again, a time my family is not overly fond of, as Christmas is now a month behind, their bank balances have just about returned to normal, along with their routines and calendars, and then my birthday turns up out of the blue. What's worse is that my brothers birthday follows just a week and a half after mine throwing everyone including me back into the whole present buying and card sending chaos.

For quite a few years now, i've not really thought to do much or celebrated my birthday in any particular way. I don't really know why, I've just gotten to a point where it doesn't stand out that much anymore to me, especially if it lands on a 'work' day, where you still have to go about things as usual.

In general I don't really like making a song and dance about stuff, or drawing too much attention to myself, and so when this day comes around I feel like I'd be best suited to just enjoy within myself but still let it pass quite quietly.

So far, this probably doesn't sound like the most enthusiastic or joyful blog post, but why I'm actually writing about this is because I feel as though i'm slowly coming back round to my old way of thinking on this subject. Thankfully due to certain people, who will not just let me sit there and waste away my birthday like any other day, i'm beginning to once again feel like I should do something or mark it somehow, not in a massive kind of way but at least acknowledge it as more then just another day. So thank you to those people for helping me remember this thing that I had forgotten.

Currently heading back home again now. I say 'home', i often refer to home as my university flat, but my mum would argue greatly that home is the family type house, where she and my sisters live. This time round I mean where my family are. I hear that we are off to go play some Top Golf as mine and my brothers birthday treat this weekend. I've only been to Top Golf once but it actually seems really fun and a surprisingly cheap thing to go do to pass a couple of hours.
