I have noticed quite a bit recently that I seem to have entered a new societal stage, I guess you could say.
Even though this has become predominantly apparent through the leaving of university etc... It has also become apparent through the growing number of old school friends who are becoming engaged, who are getting out mortgages, and who are starting to seriously think about the idea of having children.
Although I knew this stage was approaching and people would be getting married at some point, I thought this stage was still a good 4/5 years off.
Up until now I have only ever been to one wedding which was for a friend of my sisters, so its strange to think that this number could significantly increase over the next few years.
Its really great to hear all of this news coming in, and again to be honest we had already been placing bets on who would get married and when that would happen, however it feels like a completely different thing for those jokey chats to actually come to fruition.
Even though these announcements do kind of reflect upon you and ultimately place you along this metaphorical timeline, its quite nice to be taking things at my own pace, to be focusing on one thing at a time, and to not have some of the chaos that inevitably ensues from things like weddings, mortgages and children. Saying all of this, I could meet someone tomorrow and have my mind completely changed with regards to that point, but who knows.
P.S I feel like I want to quickly tack this on that I am once again sat writing this on the train on my way home, after having a very enjoyable day hanging out with some awesome Nerdfighters and regardless of my social anxieties I'm really looking forward to the next gathering and getting to chat to them and other new people.
