Again in this blog I'm just going to continue on from what I was writing previously.
On our third full day, Thursday, we had to change our plans slightly, due to the change in weather from sun to rain. Instead of going into Munich city centre to go shopping, we decided to stay at home until after lunch, and spend the morning at the house. In the afternoon we all decided to drive over to the massive Ikea, and other shops at this retail park so we could shop inside out of the rain. Due to the Ikea being even larger then any of the ones I've been to in England, it took up quite a lot of the afternoon to get round it.
For the evening on Thursday, as it was going to be my last night there, my friend Matthew, had planned for his sister Lauren, my brother, himself, and me to catch the bus and head over to the village they used to live at a couple of kilometres away. Once at the village we went over to the football club that Matthew plays for, which had a sort of pub/club house, where anyone could get a meal and drinks. As the weather was now turning back to normal we all sat outside and had a meal, which included massive portions, and then got ourselves a couple of drinks to have with it.
After a few hours, it started to turn dark at a tad cold, so we then decided to head inside and continue to order a few more drinks.
Now I've not been in many pubs before for a drink, but I have always enjoyed the idea of sitting down to have a drink and chatting with people, instead of going to clubs, to dance and drink just for the sake of drinking. Not long after being inside did Matthew start to chat with the owners of the pub, a brilliant couple who he'd known through several years of going there to play football, and to have a drink. I then after a short while went to join him. To cut a long story short, that's where we stayed for the rest of the evening, chatting to this couple, and also for a while with the waitress Nancy who Matthew knew. By the end of the night, we'd chatted about loads of different things, they'd said about how long they'd been there, and where they came from, and I'd managed to learn a few things in German. To make everything even better, at the end of the night, Peter the husband, gave Matthew and me, four free beers to take home, and Dragana his wife offered lauren, sam, matthew and me a ride home.
This last night was the furthest distance possible away from what my normal nights out in England are like, and I have to say it was amazing. Really can't wait to do it again.
On friday, we decided now as the weather was good, to go into Munich city centre and go shopping. Whilst we were there we also went to the Munich Hoffbrauhaus, which I think I'm right in saying is the largest drinks hall in Germany.
After a long day of popping in and out of shops and also doing a little bit of sight seeing, we then headed back to the house, which once there I proceeded to begin packing my bag, which luckily didn't take too long. After a quick dinner, I said goodbye to everyone at the house and headed off down to the airport.
After this point, my journey home began, and as its me, several things of course went wrong. However as I am not yet home, and am writing this blog on the train, having left Kings Cross about an hour and a half ago, I'm going to leave the events of last night and today till another blog.
Wish me luck on making it home on time.
