Holiday!

Today's the day that we've been waiting for, when we're finally leaving and going on holiday!

As I'm writing this we're literally just leaving Scarborough, where we're heading out to York to quickly pick up a few more things we didn't get, and then on to Manchester Airport. It feels so nice to get the chance to leave home, and put normal life on hold for a while.

I am really looking forward to this holiday, however I am also a bit apprehensive. We're going out to Munich to stay with friends that we knew when we used to live in Milton Keynes. The reason I'm slightly apprehensive is mainly because I haven't seen them in about 10 years, and so am wondering how much we've all changed in that time.

Another reason for being apprehensive though, is because of the flying. I've only once in my life been on a plane and I was about 1 and a half at the time, and so don't remember it. When I've asked friends about flying, half usually say they love it, and the other half say that its dreadful, hence apprehension. I've always thought that I'd be alright when it came to planes though, so all should be fine.

This morning we packed up the car, got all the paper work, passports, locked all the windows, unplugged everything in the house, the usual chaotic pre-holiday routine, but now we're 99.99% sure we've got everything. Why is it though, that always when your going on holiday, at the very back of your mind, there's this tiny little voice saying you've forgotten something?
Another holiday thing I've also noticed recently, is why is it that even though I've had weeks to get ready, to buy stuff and pack, I still followed the traditional holiday procedure and left it till the night before?

Although I'll be busy whilst I'm out there, this will hopefully be the first of several holiday blogs recording what happens over the next 6 days, until the time I get home. Can't wait to see what this week holds.
